Toothless at last!

After having her top tooth loose for 2 months, Abby finally lost her first front tooth. She was eating dinner and said "oh, I almost ate my tooth instead of my noodles". I looked at her and her tooth was hanging way down. I told her to give it a tug and out it came!

Waiting to begin

I rode up early to Chain Reaction to meet Gilles and Bruce. The plan was to ride out to Milton and do the regular country ride, then ride back.

After a very windy day, we got back at 1:30... tough work and a long day in the saddle - 155km.

Shopping with Nana

Nana's report on the annual "dress shopping" for Rob's birthday...

What a little beauty you have!! Robin is so damned cute and was just perfect today.bubbly, skipping, twirling and just so upbeat.

We had lunch at the Picklebarrel. She ordered chicken nuggets and I ordered the veggies to go with it. Of course, the waitress brought it with fries. So annoying.so I sent it back and asked for the veggies. Robin said she wanted some fries so I asked the waitress to bring back 5 only with the veggies. So Robbie tucks into the veggies and ate them all.broccoli, cauliflower, beans and carrots..quite a lot. She had a large glass of milk and then all the fries and the 6 or so nuggets. I kept telling her if she was full it was ok to leave some. However, she cleaned the entire plate! It obviously gave her lots of energy because we then walked around stores for 2 hours.

We started to just do an overview of our choices. She immediately spotted an orange, plain knit dress in the Gap. We cased the rest of the store but she didn't see anything else. Then to Gymboree where she saw an orange knit ruffled dress with great big jewels on the chest and was immediately drawn to that. She tried it on but it was quite short so we think was meant to be worn with leggings.not exactly birthday attire. So, she said she didn't like it and her favourite was still the Gap dress. Went and tried it on and it only came to mid-knee. She commented that the dress didn't twirl when she spun around so was a bit put off with it. So we went back to The Children's Place (we had already cased it out) and she tried on a very
vivid, orange, pink and every other coloured halter-top dress. This was almost to the floor and she said she now did not like it. We were thinking of going back to the Gap but first I took her to Sears. Here she found one she liked...quite different from the brighter ones. She said immediately that she liked it.I stayed totally out of her choices and didn't try to sway her one way or the other.we looked at all the dresses there.she would pass some and say "Ewwww, I don't like that". So we tried on this dress.black background with while polka dots and blue flowers. It was the right length and twirls when she spins! So we found one she really liked.phew,, I was beginning to worry. Anyway, she was very definite this year in what she liked.

Of course, I got her lots of accessories as that is what she likes. However, if she asked for something at other stores and I said we had to get the dress first or whatever, she never pushed it. She was so good. So back to The Childrens Place and Gymboree for the accessories. I got her some shoes Beth but have left the tag on for you to check the size. I think I have it right and Alona seemed to think they were ok but you should likely have a look. They are size 12.

When she got home she told Alona before I left that she would like to have some quiet time so said goodbye and took all her stuff into her room.

One very cute comment as we were walking around the mall.."Nana I like staying with you" to which I said "I like spending time with you too Robin". She added "I meant to say I like spending time with you" . One of those special moments!!

One other comment was mentioning that some women we just walked past were fat! Very funny.

Oh yes, on the way to the Mall, I was telling her of the time we went shopping when she was younger and she just wanted me to do all the work while she sat on a chair and had me show her all the dresses (this was at the Gap two years ago). I had her in the little change area at the Childrens' Place so she could try on the shoes; up she gets on the stood and then says "Nana, you do all the work while I sit here"..with a very big grin on her face. Very bloody cute!!

We had a great day!

For the 23rd year in a row, Beth made my birthday nachos last night! The girls are actually starting to enjoy them too (is that a good thing?). Awesome tradition.

Sweet!

Kids Bike Race

Abby and Robin and our friend's kids Evan and Trent went in their first bike race on Sunday! Ok, it wasn't exactly the Olympics, but as part of the local criterium circuit that Paul races in, they do kids races on the course between the real races. It was pretty funny to see all the kids race off from the start line. Robin spun her legs as fast as she could, but after going upwind for 500 meters then climbing a little hill, she bailed (had I known I could, I would have ridden with her). Abby and Evan rode all the way (maybe 2km?)... pictures here:
