First day of school

From Beth...

A few tears at breakfast this morning...Abby was nervous and concerned that she wouldn't know where the bathroom was or where to go. We did a lot of talking through things this morning and she felt better. Robbie was consoling her at the schoolyard and told her she was going to have fun. We got there and they post the lists of kids/teachers and of course, Abby and Emily were waiting together. They are not in the same class. In fact, Emily is with Nate and all the other little SK's from their class last year and Abby seems to be the only one not in their class, which is too bad. She seemed okay with it though and Emily and Abby said good-bye and off they went into their own lines. Abby is with Max though, plus a little friend from Sparks (Jamie) and a neighbour from 3 doors down whom she just started playing with (Sophia) so all is well. A few boys from the neighbourhood are in her class as well so she knew lots of kids. Her teacher is Mrs. Romeo and is supposed to be excellent! Abby is staying for lunch today because she made me call Emily's mom last night to find out what she was doing...hope to have her come home most days but she's staying today. Robin is chomping at the bit to go to school, but she starts in a few days.

It's Abby's first day of school. Here she is with Rob (who doesn't start until next week) and her friend Emily.

From Beth...

"I love school"!!! First day quote.

Non-stop chatter on the walk home today. Ms. Romeo was a big hit. Abby told me that Ms. Romeo liked things "perfect", and not surprisingly, that seemed alright with her. She got a loot bag for the first day and an activity book. She has a desk, and is facing another little boy, Eli. She had 2 recesses and a lunch and had lunch with Emily, and her "new friends". She played with "all the kids" at lunch time. They had gym class too. She said they didn't do math and today wasn't even hard. She was smiling ear to ear and can't wait to go back tomorrow.
